Hello everyone!! I hope you guys had a fantastic week! Not gonna lie but I think I might of had one of the best weeks ever! I am being so blessed being a missionary! I love you guys so much but for some reason being set apart has helped me not be so homesick!
So to start off my flight was good and quick. I met this man on the plane that was very nice and he helped me find my bags when we landed but then he gave me a hug and I was screaming inside because I just became a missionary a few days before and I was already breaking the rules. I missed the shuttle but got on the next one and finally headed to the MTC!! I got there and was greeted by missionaries and I was so excited to get my name tag but I had to wait like an hour to get it! I finally got it and I was so happy to have it on and I love wearing it and representing Jesus Christ!
My teachers are Brother Jenkins (totally reminds me of Chance our home teacher) and it was Sister Osmond (she is the niece of the famous Osmonds). She taught us for a few days but her family went to Japan to do firesides haha so we have subs now. Anyways, I know that I am bias but I have the best district ever! There is 16 of us so it is a pretty big district! There is Elder Harper (looks like he could be the son of Michel Scott) and Elder Schabel (Idaho Falls), Elder Wallbuger and Elder Bitter (Pocatello), Elder Purvis and Elder Taylor (Pocatello), Elder Swarts and Elder Neufeld (Idaho Falls), Elder Brady and Elder Tapia (Pocatello), Sister Hughes and Sister Ekumstam (Idaho Falls), Sister Brinkerhoff and Sister Stott (Pocatello) and last and the best companionship is Sister Wilson and Sister Lacey! The only sad thing though is that I am going to Idaho Falls and she is going to Pocatello so we are going to be separated and we do not want to even think about it! But yes we are the best district! We are able to have class in one of the new buildings and it is beautiful! So much windows and paintings! I feel the spirit so much!
So the "investigators" that me and Sis Wilson have right now are named Spencer, Kaitlyn, and Sindy! We have only been able to teach them once but I think it is going pretty good! So Spencer is just my teacher Bro. Jenkins but I feel that we taught him well. Sindy is part of our TRC and we get bios on them and Sindy's bio said that she is a recently widowed women with 4 kids. So we prepared a lesson on how to be comforted and the Atonement. We get in there and she said that she had been married but got a divorce and her ex-husband was an anti-mormon and took anti-mormon classes and so she wanted the truth about Joseph Smith haha so we had to flip in the lesson but I still think it went good! Kaitlyn's lesson went better though and I can really feel Heavenly Father working through we to teach these people and it is amazing!
It is really funny because I remember in mission prep and we would do role playing and I would do so bad and I would just think, "what the heck is wrong with me??' but it is so amazing because now I just feel so much more capable! I know that part of it has to do with that I am older and wiser but I know that a lot of it has to do with fact that I am set apart to do this work and Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ want me to do this right so they are helping me a lot! I really feel myself becoming a better missionary!
Also, I know most of you guys know that I love spanish haha and it's really funny because I think that I am rubbing off on my comp a little! It seems like wherever we are, at least once a day, missionaries that are serving spanish speaking find us and brag with their spanish skills hahaha I am just kidding! I am really excited to be speaking english so I can hit the ground running when I leave the MTC!
Funny story though with spanish speaking elders. So my comp and I were studying in the new court yard area and a spanish speaking district came out there and were sitting at tables next to us and started talking in spanish. I was curious where they were going so I asked them and then my comp told them that I love spanish. Anyways, we just had a little conversation with them and then went back to studying but I looked up a tiny bit later and one of the other elders in the district wrote on his ipad and showed it to the elder we were talking to and it said "page 33 elder" hahahaha for those who do not know, when a missionary says "page 33" they are refering to the white handbook about flirting with the opposite gender. It really is a joke most of the time though because missionaries do it just if you talk to the opposite gender haha anyways, that was a funny little story.
I feel like I have so much more to tell you but cannot organize my thoughts! I am loving it here and I am so blessed with an amazing comp! We get along so well! I knew that we were going to be good for each other when on the first night they were having a little teaching/ our purpose meeting with the newbies and me and her were thinking of the same things to teach the "investigators" in the room! My weaknesses are her strengths and my strengths are her weaknesses! I think that makes for a great companionship!
I would like to share with you guys my purpose as a missionary! (I memorized it so I am happy lol)
Our purpose is to help others come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. We teach repentance and baptize converts.
Man! I love that that is my purpose for a year and a half! I love you guys so much and thank you for the support! I know that this church is true with all my heart!
Love,
Sister Lacey
